There have been a lot of postings in support of Phil Robertson so I want to take this opportunity to explain my position of support.
It is no secret about my position of homosexuality, EVERY one who knows me knows my stand so I don’t need to preach about it. I would hope my stand would be the same as Jesus’ stand to love the sinner but hate the sin and that is what I try to do. So having said that, I do agree with what Phil said 100%. While his description was a little crude his point was made non-the-less. But let it be known that my support for Phil wasn’t in what he said, that is an agreement, but his right to say what he said however he chooses to say it.
Far to long we have allowed the “special interest” groups to dictate what can be said as long as it does not offend them however, we are forced to hear what they want to say whether it offends us or not. How many articles have been written that are anti-conservative Christians and nothing is ever said in defense of the groups they are offending? The same can be said about liberal politics, they can say what they want to say but when a conservative says something, it is classified as mean and hateful and now we are going rally the troops and vote that mean spirited person out of office. Look at today’s entertainment we see on TV, every day we are bombarded with pro-homosexual shows and anti-Christian shows and yet nothing is ever said by the “special interests” groups. Can you imagine the screaming that would be going on if “All in the Family” was on today?
Not only do I support Phil’s rights to say what he wants to say but I also support the rights of all “special interests” groups to say what they want to say as well. I do not have to agree with them but that does not take away their rights to express what they want to say. If I do not like what I am watching on TV, I control the remote, ask my wife, she’ll tell you it will get turned in a heart beat. You know what, that is what makes America what it is today, a country of free thinkers and freedom to express those thoughts any way I want to as long as I don’t scream “FIRE!!!” in a movie house when there is not fire. Phil’s words were taken out of context and when GQ asked the question, they knew what his response was going to be. At no time did he say anything derogatory or inflammatory but simply exercising his rights to freedom of speech by expressing what, how and why he thinks the way he does. The “special interest” groups have made it into something it was never intended to be. Wake up America, it is called freedom of speech. If you don’t like it, I am sure that any other country will accept you into the country where you are not allowed to speak your mind. Let me know how that works out for you.
So…back off and respect Phil’s freedom of speech!!!
well said brother!
